Meredith Monk is a composer, singer, director,and choreographer. She was a pioneer in what is now called "extended vocal technique" and "interdisciplinary performance," creating music-theater works, films, and installations. Monk has been an integral part of The Kitchen since its inception, performing frequently throughout the 1970s and 1980s, and served on its Board of Directors until 2011.
