Arto Lindsay has been an integral part of the downtown music scene since founding the seminal No Wave band DNA in 1978 with Robin Crutchfield and Ikue Mori, who had one of their first concerts at The Kitchen's Soho space. As a performer, composer and music director from 1986-87, Lindsay has been a frequent presence at The Kitchen with musicians such as Frank Frith, John Lurie, Christian Marclay, John Zorn, his band Ambitious Lovers and collaborations with choreographers Richard Move and Wendy Perron, as well as artist Vito Acconci.
