Love of Life Orchestra was founded by Peter Gordon in 1977. Its size has ranged from a trio to a dozen members, and early collaborators included other Kitchen regulars such as Kathy Acker, Laurie Anderson, David Byrne, Rhys Chatham, Arthur Russell, David van Tieghem and "Blue" Gene Tyranny. Love of Life Orchestra performed frequently at The Kitchen in the late 1970s and early 80s, and continues to perform under Gordon's direction.
