Glenn Branca (1948-) is an American avant-garde composer and guitarist known for his guitar symphonies. Regarded as the godfather of alternative rock, Branca founded the bands Theoretical Girls and Static in the seventies. Branca’s Symphony No.2 (The Peak of the Sacred) for six players was part of the 1982 Kitchen Tour. Symphony no.8 (Mystery) and Symphony no.10 (The Mystery Part 2) premiered at The Kitchen in 1994.
