A longtime member of New York's downtown art scene, Stephanie Skura, helped innovate the field of intermedia arts, combining her interests in directing, composition, choreography, and performance. Skura's experimental technique garnered recognition from the inaugural Bessie award committee in 1984, as well as numerous fellowships and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. At The Kitchen's 1984 program Almost Dance, Skura collaborated with video artists Terry Moyemont, Annette Barbier, and Drew Browning on the video-dance Chase Scene.
