Burt Barr is an American artist known for his conceptual video and film works using traditional cinematic techniques and the single take. While usually straightforward, his works are often humorous and frequently showed other artists and members of the downtown art world including Cecily Brown, Elizabeth Murray, Klaus Kertess and his wife, Trisha Brown. Barr began making videos in the mid1980s and in the mid1990s also began to create large-scale projections and installations. His collaborative film with James Benning, O-Panama (1986), was screened at The Kitchen in 1988. This screening was part of a video series called Extant Work.
