Annette Michelson
Art critic Annette Michelson (1922- ) began writing for publications such as the New York Herald Tribune, Arts Magazine, and Art International. In 1976, Michelson left her post as writer at Artforum to found the journal October alongside art historian Rosalind Krauss. Her particular interest in film led Michelson co-found NYU's Cinema Studies Department with Jay Leyda. In 1980, Michelson participated in The Kitchen's panel series on “Television, Society, and Art” during which she discussed television as a means of art-making and in relation to other technological art media.
