James Saunders is a composer working with open-form compositions, as well as modular and serial structures. Through his music, he explores group behaviors and the process of decision making. During his career, he has collaborated with Alvin Lucier, Christian Wolff, and Phill Niblock among many others. Saunders currently performs with two ensembles: the duo Parkinson Saunders and Apartment House. His work appeared in The Kitchen group exhibition Between Thought and Sound in 2007.
