Established in 1991 and led by Annie-B Parson and Paul Lazar, Big Dance Theater blurs the lines between dance performance, theater, and literature. Acclaimed for seamlessly synthesizing music, performance, text, and design, Big Dance Theater's annual, international performances have won numerous awards, including the Bessie and OBIE awards, as well as the New York Foundation for the Arts Artist Fellowship. Big Dance Theater has premiered several works at The Kitchen including Girl Gone (1999), Shunkin (2001), Comme Toujours Here I Stand (2009) and Short Form (2016).
