Los Angeles and Berlin-based artist Paul Sietsema works in a variety of mediums including drawing, sculpture, and film, in order to mine each as a specific site of image production. His work often involves remediations, in which a piece will begin in one medium to be reproduced in another. Sietsema makes drawing and sculpture, which often incorporate recycled or found images and objects, to then use these pieces in order to create films. He thus compounds use of specific images, and the bodies of knowledge they invoke, with interrogations of mediums as discursive formations themselves. Sietsema’s work was included in The Kitchen’s 2016 group exhibition “From Minimalism into Algorithm.” For more information, please see: http://www.matthewmarks.com/new-york/artists/paul-sietsema/
