Jon Alpert (1948 - ) is a investigative journalist and documentary filmmaker whose work is characterized by a cinéma vérité approach. Alpert's films have garnered 15 Emmy Awards and 3 DuPont-Columbia Awards, in addition to numerous nominations by the Academy Awards. In 1972, Alpert and Keiko Tsuno co-founded the Downtown Community Television Center with the mission of making film production more accessible those without access to such opportunities. At The Kitchen's 1980 panel series on “Television, Society, and Art,” Alpert participated on the discussion of television as a mode of social critique.
