DJ Spy was an early New York hip-hop DJ. Spy performed several times at The Kitchen, including a collaboration with legendary jazz drummer Max Roach (1983), and accompanied Fab Five Freddy and the Rock Steady Crew on 'Kitchen Touring USA-I' (1982). In 1981, DJ Spy acted as the disc jockey for The Kitchen's 'Graffiti Rock' rap and break concert and in 1982 he demonstrated the 'double-mixing' technique alongside partner Frank C. at The Kitchen's two-night 'His Master's Voice' event.
