Fia Backström is a multimedia artist who works with language, propaganda, typography, objects, and performance. She investigates the contemporary condition of existence and subjectivity by demystifying authorship and the notion of exhibition making. By analyzing the structure of political address, corporate logic, and pedagogical methods, she challenges institutional contexts, audiences, and the presentations of artworks. Her projects often include works created by others—ranging from visitors to fellow artists— which become a form of reflection on the public engagement of the elements that constitute exhibitions. Her work appeared in The Kitchen group exhibition JUST KICK IT TILL IT BREAKS in 2007. For more information, please visit http://www.fiabackstrom.com/.
