Davis Rhodes is a multimedia artist whose works appropriate and manipulate images from commercial advertisements, criticizing the illusions and artifice of consumer culture. He procures these images from popular sources and reduces them to unrecognizably angular, abstract shapes rendered in monochromatic color, which are typically printed onto backing made from cheap materials. Rhodes participated in "Besides, With, Against, and Yet: Abstraction and The Ready-Made Gesture", a group exhibition at The Kitchen in 2009.
