M.G. Lord
M.G. Lord is an American cultural critic and journalist, whose work addresses numerous topics with historical rigor. Lord has published three books: Forever Barbie: The Unauthorized Biography of a Real Doll (Walker & Company, 1994), which is an in-depth look at the history of Barbie and the doll’s social impact; Astro Turf: The Private Life of Rocket Science (Walker & Company, 2005), a family memoir about Cold War aerospace culture; and The Accidental Feminist: How Elizabeth Taylor Raised Our Consciousness and We Were Too Distracted by Her Beauty to Notice (Bloomsbury USA, 2012) that unearths a feminist understanding of an American icon. Lord is a regular contributor to periodicals as a literary and cultural critic, and teaches in the Master of Professional Writing Program at USC. In 1994, Lord hosted Cafe Barbie at The Kitchen.
