Georgia Sagri, based in New York and Athens, is primarily a performance artist. She explores the nature of performance as an ever-evolving field within social and visual life, interconnected with, though distinct from the dialectics of representation in theatre, music and dance. As her work has developed a great part of her artistic output has come to consist of video and computer works, texts, installations and drawings that are concerned and engaged with political movements and struggles, autonomy, empowerment, and self-organization. Sagri was featured in the 2012 Whitney Biennial and has shown work across the world, from the Deste Foundation in Athens, Greece to the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. In 2015 she won the Artadia Award. Her work, as performance, sculpture, and projection, concerning political climate was included in the 2014 exhibition The Rehearsal at The Kitchen .
