Clifford Owens is an interdisciplinary artist primarily known for his work in performance art. Working primarily with scores, his work probes the relationship between performer and audience by directly engaging with his body. A writer and scholar, Owens has also advocated for the increased visibility of black performance artists, throughout history and today. Owens was included in the 2009 group exhibition One Minute More at The Kitchen that considered approaches to presenting and documenting durational action and performance, and the labor implicit in that.
