Tessa Hughes-Freeland (b. England) is an experimental filmmaker and author. Her early New York City films were part of the No Wave Cinema and the Cinema of Transgression movements in the Lower East side of New York. She co-founded the New York Film Festival Downtown and has published numerous articles on filmmaking. Hughes-Freeland is married to curator Carlo McCormick.
