Steve Paxton
Born in 1938, Steve Paxton is an influential dancer and choreographer. Paxton spent time studying with Merce Cunningham, and his technique known as 'contact improvisation' has been heralded by dance programs and companies the world over as a powerful teaching practice. He first performed at The Kitchen in April, 1975 as part of the You Come, We'll Show You What We Do event and last performed an improvisational dance in December, 1995.
