In 1987, Steve Paxton performed two improvised works: one to Bach's Goldberg Variations, using two recordings by Glenn Gould, and another to the voice of Robert Ashley and keyboards of “Blue” Gene Tyranny and his longtime collaborator Lisa Nelson.
