Gregory Mehrten is an American actor, director, and playwright. A longtime collaborator with Mabou Mines, he served as co-Artistic Director of the group from 1981 to 1990. He is currently an Associate Member of The Wooster Group. With Rosemary Quinn, Marianne Weems, and Ron Vawter (his late partner), Mehrten formed The Pomodori Foundation. While in residence with The Pomodori Foundation at The Kitchen in 1993, Mehrten directed a benefit production of Roy Cohn/Jack Smith (starring Vawter) and starred in Queer and Alone (co-directed by Vawter and Weems). At the time of Vawter's death in 1994, The Pomodori Foundation had been working on a production for The Kitchen titled Dark Victory, which would have starred both Mehrten and Vawter and would have been directed by writer Susan Sontag.
