Christopher Knowles
Christopher Knowles is a poet, artist, and performer long fascinated by both aural and visual manifestations of language. A longtime collaborator with Robert Wilson, they first started working together in 1973 and went on to do a number of pieces, including the landmark opera Einstein on the Beach. Knowles also performed in many of Wilson's early works such as The Life and Times of Joseph Stalin, A Letter to Queen Victoria, and Dia/Log among others. Since 1974, Knowles has shown his text-based works that explore communication and sign systems and three-dimensional pieces in a variety of gallery and museum settings.
