Alvin Curran is an American avant-garde composer and founding member of legendary free improv collective Musica Elettronica Viva. Heralded for his widescreen compositional approach, the sound sources of which run the gamut from electronics to world instrumentation to field recordings, Curran has been a venerable figure in modern composition, installation art, and site-specific performance for more than forty years. Since 2006, Curran has taught privately in Rome following a fifteen year stint as Milhaud Professor of Composition at Mills. Both MEV and Curran have a lengthy history of performances at The Kitchen, dating back as far as 1973. Recently, Musica Elettronica Viva shared a bill with Oneohtrix Point Never at The Kitchen's inaugural 'Synth Nights' event. For more information, please visit: http://www.alvincurran.com/
