A.K. Burns is an interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Burns is currently part-time faculty in the Graduate department of Fine Arts at Parsons The New School for Design. In 2008, she co-founded the artists activist group Working Artists and the Greater Economy (W.A.G.E.). Burns co-organized W.A.G.E. until the project received its 501-c3 status in 2012, when she joined the Board of Directors. Burns was also co-founder and editor of RANDY, an annual trans-feminist arts magazine from 2009-2013.Burns’ feature-length socio-sexual video portrait, Community Action Center made in collaboration with A.L. Steiner has shown at Taxter & Spengemann, the Tate Modern, MoMA, and The Andy Warhol Museum as well as other renowned contemporary arts facilities across the US and the globe. Burns' solo and group work has also recently been featured across New York and Ireland.
