New York-born artist, Peter Rose has been an active performer since his graduation from Columbia University in 1977. In 1979, Rose co-founded New York Performance Space 122 where he innovated the idea of "open movement," which elaborated the distinction between performative and choreographed movement. At PS 122 Rose also developed a series of works including Loyaltown, USA! which he performed at The Kitchen's 1984 program Almost Dance. Since 1995, Rose has lived in Berlin where he continues to share his practice through the language and culture studio that he directs there.
