Peter Rose is an American artist working with film, performance, and recording. Rose primarily creates videos based on concepts including language, space, time, death, synapse, and synthesized nature as seen through the lens of phenomenology. Structuralist filmmakers and his background in mathematics are the primary influences on Rose's works. He was first performed at The Kitchen, in 1978, with his solo work “The Circular Heavens” (4). In 1985, for a self titled evening, Rose presented two videos “Digital Speech” and “Secondary Currents,” as well as “The Pleasure of the Text,” a live work that he performed in conjunction with his video. In 1998, he collaborated with Jeanne Jaffe for the exhibition “Virtual Objects and Embodied Images,” that featured sculptural works by Jaffe, with projected videos by Rose.
