Sensualism and the Divided Self

On February 1 and 2, 1980, Judy Nylon and musician Kevin Fullen presented Sensualism and the Divided Self, two fifteen-minute sound and performance pieces. In both, three women danced in a box made of gauze. One woman was bound and dressed in tulle, another wore army fatigues and was armed with hedge-clippers, and the third rested on a block of ice. The performances were accompanied by text from Georges Bataille, Alain Robbe Grillet, Yasunari Kawabata, and Lolita Carbon.
