Adam Pendleton is an interdisciplinary, American artist working across film and installation. Often working in video, Pendleton’s pieces are amalgamations of text and images, offering a layered approach to history that explores untraditional readings of the avant-garde. Pendleton’s artwork is influenced by black history and experiences throughout the world. He places a premium on exploring political radicalism as well as political gay narratives. Pendleton’s exhibits allow audiences to investigate the true meaning behind different quotations, phrases, and single words. His artwork can be interpreted as liberation of the hidden historical avant-garde.
