(The efflorescence of) Walter

Lemon_Installation

Installation photo of framed pictures in Attic Space (2003) by Ralph Lemon and in collaboration with Eric Stone and F. Randy deCelle.

For his first solo exhibition in New York, Ralph Lemon prepared a multimedia show including works on paper, video, and an architectural sculpture installation. (The efflorescence of) Walter was inspired by and focused on the artist's collaborative relationship with 99-year-old Walter Carter of Yazoo City, Mississippi. The drawings, paintings, and videos shown explored the memory and reality of the American South through a synthesis of popular, political, and personal imagery.
