Gerard & Kelly’s exhibition Timelining explored the intimacies of couples in varying forms through sculpture, site-specific interventions of The Kitchen’s gallery and theater space, and performance scores. The exhibition’s inaugural performance, Verb Dance, showcased the artists’ use of language and choreography, using The Kitchen’s deconstructed risers and black box space. Daily performances of Timelining in the gallery space featured partners, siblings, friends, former lovers, mentors, and mentees reciting memories, while circling the gallery as part of the artists' score. In this work, scores were enacted when a viewer was present, confronting spectatorship and pressuring the conceits of relational aesthetics. Timelining was curated by Tim Griffin.
