Tyshawn Sorey
Tyshawn Sorey is an American multi-instrumentalist and composer. In 2017 he was named a MacArthur Fellow and has been praised for his instrumental facility and mastery of the trombone, drums, and piano. Sorey is also a composer and conductor, and has worked across a wide range of genres including jazz, contemporary forms and others. In 2016, he joined flutist Claire Chase for the debut of “Density 2036: part-iv” at the Kitchen. Sorey composed and performed “Bertha’s Lair” with himself on drums and Chase on contrabass flute.
