Sara Greenberger Rafferty’s work explores issues of femininity and entertainment culture. Drawing inspiration from television imagery, the artist merges violence, pathos, and vulnerability, echoing the absurdity and failure of comedy and commercial forms of entertainment in works that range from sculptures and installation to drawings and prints. Body politics are similarly analyzed with a special focus on the size of the performers in relation to their audiences, particularly in the context of television. Greenberg Rafferty had a solo exhibition titled BANANAS at The Kitchen in 2008, curated by Matthew Lyons. For more information, please visit http://sgrstudio.info/.
