Christina Kubisch is a composer, performer, and pioneer of sound art installations. At the beginning of her career, in mid-1970s, she was involved in performances, concerts, and work with video. More recently, she has worked on electroacoustic compositions, as well as writing new works for ensembles. Her compositions synthetize unusual everyday sounds, audio, and visual arts to create a multisensory experience for the audience. Her sound sculptures and sound installations often involve ultraviolet light, solar energy, and electromagnetic induction. Her work was included in the group show “Invisible Geographies: New Sound Art from Germany” at The Kitchen in 2006.
