In 2011, The Kitchen celebrated its 40th Anniversary and the 30th Anniversary of its groundbreaking 1981 program Aluminum Nights with a two-night series of events called Aluminum Music. On Friday, April 15, Z'EV played on a double-bill with the Bush Tetras. On Saturday, April 16, George Lewis performed his anthem Homage to Charles Parker with Amina Claudine Myers (piano/organ), Reggie Nicholson (percussion), Matana Roberts (alto saxophone), and Richard Teitelbaum (synthesizers). That evening Peter Gordon's Love of Life Orchestra, also played with Robby Ameen (drums), Max Gordon (trumpet), Randy Gun (guitar), Paul Shapiro (winds), Ned Sublette (guitar), Elio Villafranca (piano), and Peter Zummo (trombone).
