Modern Love and The Lucy Amarillo Stories was a "spoken performance" of Constance De Jong's writing adapted for the stage. The narrative flow and the fluency of the language are enhances by the use of lighting, movement, and music, which was composed by Philip Glass. The combinations of these elements made the audience feel as if they were active participants in De Jong's stories.
