Waltzes at the Kitchen: Twenty-Five Contemporary Piano Waltzes

 

On February 3, 1979, Waltzes at the Kitchen: Twenty-Five Contemporary Piano Waltzes, a program of keyboard waltzes by John Cage, Phillip Glass, Lou Harrison, Milton Babbitt, Ivan Tcherepnin, Virgil Thomson, among others, took place at The Kitchen. Co-sponsored by C.F. Peters Corp., composers Robert Helps and Robert Moran invited a selection of composers to redefine the waltz. The special collection of waltzes was played by Yvar Mikhashoff, John Cobb, Joan Tower, Alan Feinberg and host Robert Moran.
