Ashley and his collaborators presented a pilot version of Perfect Lives (Private Parts) as part of an in-progress showing at American Theatre Laboratory, co-presented by DTW, The Kitchen, and Performing Artservices. Composed of seven extended songs for voice and various instruments, the work was set in a small Midwestern town and centered at the piano-bar at The Lounge.  The cast included “Blue” Gene Tyranny, who created the character “Buddy” at the keyboard, along with Jill Kroesen, David Van Tieghem, Steve Paxton, Lisa Nelson, and Nancy Stark Smith.
