Marianne Weems is an American writer and director. She began as a dramaturg with The Wooster Group. With Gregory Mehrten, Ron Vawter, and Rosemary Quinn, Weems formed The Pomodori Foundation. While in residence with The Pomodori Foundation at The Kitchen in 1993, Weems served as dramaturg on a benefit production of Roy Cohn/Jack Smith, and, with Vawter, co-directed Queer and Alone. At the time of Vawter's death in 1994, The Pomodori Foundation had been working on a production for The Kitchen titled Dark Victory, which would have been directed by Susan Sontag. After Vawter's death, Weems founded The Builders Association and has directed all of their works since.
