Jennifer Monson is a choreographer, performer, and teacher who has been exploring improvisation and collaboration in experimental dance since the 80s. She has worked with an array of interdisciplinary artists such as Zeena Parkins, Yvonne Meier, David Zombrano, and notably at The Kitchen with Chrysa Parkinson and violinist Guy Yarden in 1998 for her performance Glint. In 2000, Monson’s focus shifted towards the scientific and cultural investigation of the relationship between movement and the environment. In 2004 she became the artistic director of iLAND,—Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Art, Nature and Dance—an organization that researches the connections between the artistic, the kinetic, and environmental sustainability.
