David Haxton is a visual artist who works in photography and film. From his early work as a painter, his video pieces are influenced by his painterly perspective and pay close attention to the process of creation and use of materials. His shift from painting to film installation occurred throughout the 1970s, when Haxton became interested in recreating the feeling of one space within another. In the 1980s, he started producing more traditional films, which could be projected on a single screen in a theater setting. Haxton’s work was shown in Filmworks 1980 at The Kitchen.
