Alicia Hall Moran / Gordon Voidwell

The nights of December 4th and 5th, 2009, Alicia Hall Moran and Gordon Voidwell shared an evening of live music at The Kitchen. Moran presented the motown project, an exploration of opera and soul music produced during the 60s and 70s. The motown project highlighted Moran’s diverse musical training as she searched for a common thread between seemingly disparate musical forms. Joinging Moran were Tarus Mateen on electric bass guitar, Thomas Flippin on classical guitar, and Clare Bathe with additional vocals. Voidwell performed with Tecla Esposito, Kassa Overall, and Guillermo Brown, all of whom have significantly influenced Voidwell’s music. Voidwell’s group performed experimental/analog-pop music and interspersing noise sections. The compositions were accompanied by live dancers and video projections by various artists.
