Meg Stuart presented Disfigure Study, her first evening-length work, at The Kitchen in the fall of 1991. She developed the piece through the “Working In The Kitchen” program earlier that year. Disfigure Study was choreographed and performed by Stuart, along with two other dancers, Francisco Camacho and Carlota Lagido. The work aimed to examine the physicality of the body through disfigurement and movement studies. She allowed the sectioned bodies to produce new functions. After her Kitchen performance, Stuart went on to tour Disfigure Study throughout Europe.
