Mika Tajima

Mika Tajima employs sculpture, painting, video, music, and performance constructed in spaces in which material objects outline action and engagement. Interested in given roles and multiple functions at play in performance as well as aesthetic tropes of early modernism, Tajima creates sculptural sites for potential actions which also become surrogates for absent performers. In 2008, Tajima had a solo show at The Kitchen entitled The Double, and in 2014 she participated in The Kitchen’s L.A.B. series.
