Greta Snider is an American, experimental nonfiction filmmaker whose work explores the boundaries between documentary and document. Snider’s earlier work on 16mm combines photography and found footage to capture her own experiences in the San Francisco punk scene of the 1990s. In collaboration with Johunna Grayson, Snider created a series of slide show projections made up of hand-processed photographs and stereoscopic images. Snider’s collection of work focuses on small moments--a punk rock show, a trip to an abortion clinic, travels with friends--that, en masse, amount to a larger portrait of history. Snider’s film Shred O’ Sex played at The Kitchen in 1993 as part of SPEW/New York. For more information visit http://www.heatsignature.com/greta.html.
