Elena Alexander

Elena Alexander is a performance artist, dancer, poet as well as a writer. She wrote text and commentary for the book Footnotes: Six Choreographers Inscribe the Page, in which she compiled writings of six choreographers including Douglas Dunn, Marjorie Gamso, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Kenneth King, Yvonne Meier, and Sarah Skaggs. Her poetry, fiction, and nonfiction have been published in anthologies by Serpent’s Tail, Henry Holt, and Penguin, and in various periodicals such as BOMB, the minnesota review, and LUNGFULL! She organized the performance and literary event Footnotes: Six Choreographers Inscribe the Page at The Kitchen in the fall of 1998.
