Viable Alternatives

On the evenings of October 9th–11th, 1974, Tom Johnson presented Viable Alternatives at The Kitchen. The program for this performance consisted of four of Johnson’s own compositions, “Lecture with Singing,” “Lecture with Hand-Raising,” “Lecture with Repetition, and “Lecture with Question Period,” each of which invited audience members to participate according to its title — singing, raising their hands, asking questions, or modifying the ways which Johnson repeated various sentences.
