This exhibition centered on Lawrence Weiner’s most recent video Do You Believe in Water, presented alongside other video and language-based works from 1972 to 1976. The video—shot by Carlota Schoolman and Michael H. Shamberg and produced by The Kitchen—juxtaposed the dryness of language with the physical intimacy of the interplay between two women seated at a table in The Kitchen's gallery space. Do You Believe in Water was accompanied by a soundtrack that intertwined music and recordings of conversations between Lawrence and Alice Weiner. Some of the works exhibited in this show were specifically modeled to fit The Kitchen’s space on 484 Broome Street.
