A Bit of Matter and a Little Bit More

1976_Postcard_Image

A Bit of Matter and a Little Bit More was a one-evening screening of the eponymous videotape. In this work, Lawrence Weiner explored materiality and language, kaleidoscopically interrelating individuals, objects, and words. By mixing pornographic imagery with symbolism and philosophy, A Bit of Matter and a Little Bit More also represents the artist's reaction to the censorship and the pressure applied on the arts during the 1970s.
