Katherine Hubbard is an interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She works at the intersection of photography, performance, sculpture, text and video as a means to establish and redefine power structures that create and control meaning. Her project A thing and its thing-ness. It’s all just nouns and adjectives baby, a deconstructed opera engaging with the history and politics of visibility, was presented in 2013 at The Museum of Art and Design, New York. Hubbard maintains an ongoing collaboration with the artist A.K. Burns investigating the history of queer esthetics, iterations of which have been exhibited at Recess, The Brooklyn Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art. In September 2016, Hubbard had a solo exhibition entitled Bring your own lights at The Kitchen that included performances during its run.
