John Zorn
John Zorn (1953- ) is an American avant-garde composer and multi-instrumentalist. He has worked in a diverse range of experimental genres including punk jazz and klezmer and most often plays the saxophone. Zorn created several compositions in a series based on sports during the late seventies and early eighties. As part of The Kitchen’s contemporary music series in 1980, Zorn presented Jai-Alai, an opera titled after a multi-player ball game originating in Basque.
