Eileen Quinlan is an American photographer whose focus on still-life imagery often belies the end product. Her work teases the sensibilities of abstraction and representation, with her setup and technical process disturbing the distinction between the two modes of composition. For Quinlan, the apparatus of photography is there to be undone, toyed with in ways—violent and otherwise—that questions the construction of the image and injects a sense of self in the work. Quinlan lives and works in Brooklyn, NY and is on faculty at Bard College’s Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts. In 2012 Quinlan had an exhibition at The Kitchen with Matt Keegan titled Y? O! G…A.
